Ecuador Join us in a photo tour of Quito, the Galapagos, the Amazon rain forest, and the Highlands. Quito is situated at 9000 feet in the Andes so the weather is cool and pleasant, unlike lower elevations. The Amazon Rain Forest is
near to 2000 feet and has hot tropical, muggy weather. We were lucky to have overcast days,
which kept the temperature down. The Highlands are
punctuated with many volcanoes and lush green valleys. There are a great many industrious
indigenous people, many of whom wear traditional clothing. The Galapagos Islands are
about 350 miles west of Ecuador.
The very dry weather discouraged settlers, which helped to
save the unique plants and animals. We traveled with Overseas
Adventure Travel (OAT), who specialize in small group, active tours. We recommend OAT for active adults
who want to get close to the cultures when they travel.
